It was a late October evening on the Outer Banks when I took this image. It was a calm evening with almost no wind (but gazillions of bugs) which allowed for this long exposure frame. To keep the lighthouse straight I used a 24mm Tilt-shift Canon lens. A four stop neutral density filter helped to mitigate the contrast difference between evening sky and foreground.
The sky looks a little posterized. Have you tried blurring it with a gaussian defocus (?) in Photoshop?
I have not. I use ON1 Photo Raw 2023 since last year. I just checked and it looks like there is a Gaussian blur filter. I will give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion. Very much appreciated.
I believe I misunderstood. The blur filter makes it worse, I think. Do you mean the curved lines in the left part of the sky? I just realized then, they do not show when I open the file in ON1, only in the exported file. I had that in the past when I reduced the quality of the jpeg too much to make the file smaller.
Thanks
I see, it happens sometimes when you export files to jpg. I would also reduce the magenta saturation in the boardwalk just a little bit, but that is just personal preference. Besides that, it is a great photo.
Thank you!
