Sunset at a swamp area in Illinois. Unfortunately a wildfire destroyed the area several years ago and most of the pine trees do not exist anymore. Taken with an analog camera and Velvia 50.

Juergen, I hope its an area under a conservancy or other protection ... in time trees will grow again.
Paul, it is. However, the fire was probably 20 years ago and the last time was there (couple months ago) only the charcoaled stumps were left. Really sad! Younger trees survived and in another 10-20 years it might look like this again.
Juergen, those "younger" may very well be the new growth, during fire the young are usually the first to grow as part of under growth which is what fire is supposed to do clear out the under growth. Allowing the older tree will thrive. Generally the older trees die when the fire reaches their canopy.
