Kelan emerging from fire

When not performing, Theyyam dancers are mere mortals. A tradition handed down through family lines. Years are spent learning the skills required for every part of the tradition, from how to make costumes from coconut husks to the delicate art of face painting. Only once painted and dressed in his most elaborate attire would be his transformation complete. The theyyam comes running to the arena where huge fire is setup. He runs into it so fast making it hard to focus in the low light. The anger towards the fire that completely burnt him into ashes is clearly seen throughout the performance.
