This captivating image of Castle Rock Formation in Gove County, Kansas, is the result of a meticulous compositing process. Over the course of an hour, 250 individual exposures were captured at 15-second intervals. These images were then carefully grouped into sets of 50 and merged, with aircraft lights painstakingly removed from each layer. The resulting groups were stacked and brightened to accentuate the graceful star trails. A first-quarter moon, positioned just beyond the frame to the left, illuminates the scene, casting evocative shadows that add depth and dimension to the rock formations.
