On March 15, 2024, Dark Sky International announced the certification of the Oregon Dark Sky Sanctuary. Consisting of 2.5 million acres, it is the largest Dark Sky Sanctuary in the world. In coming years, two additional phases will bring the sanctuary total to 11+ million acres. My campsite along Willow Creek was located south central Oregon and within the boundaries of what will be Phase 2. It offers beautiful Bortle-1 skies.
