Proserpina

1993 Proserpina, or Persephone in Roman mythology, was dragged down into the underworld by Pluto. She and her mother Demeter were key figures in the celebration of the Eleusinian Mysteries. This shot and others like it were commissioned by an enlightened client for a 1993 calendar. The only stipulation was the inclusion somewhere of a lion, the corporate symbol.
