On February 5, 2025, protesters in Dhaka set fire to the historic Dhanmondi 32 residence, the former home of Bangladesh’s founding leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and later a national memorial museum. The attack took place during widespread unrest, with demonstrators reportedly demanding a ban on the ruling Awami League. The iconic site—widely regarded as a cornerstone of Bangladesh’s political heritage—was vandalized and ultimately demolished. Priceless archival photographs and materials from the Liberation War, worth millions, were also lost in the blaze. As the building fell, members of a radical Islamist group were seen observing the destruction. The incident marks a dark chapter in the country’s deepening political crisis under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 15-year tenure, once a mother of humanity turned into monster!
Demolition of historical house.
