Elegy in Motion

Captured with the Sony A7R V and FE 50mm f/1.4 GM at f/1.8, this image freezes a moment of controlled chaos: wind, fabric, and flesh shaped by the Atlantic’s breath. Real-time autofocus tracked through translucent motion, and the dynamic range preserved both the fire of the setting sun and the shadowed texture of the dress. The image was taken at Las Ruinas del Faro in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, a site scarred by time and hurricane—an echo of resilience standing against the sea.

The model—my wife and muse—lives with epilepsy. Every aspect of this shoot was shaped by awareness: avoiding overstimulation, monitoring physical limits, and adapting to fleeting natural conditions. Yet in that moment, she stood unshaken, veiled in shadow and illuminated by dusk.

This is not a portrait of grief.
It is a timeless elegy—for the body, for the storm, for all that endures.
