Ashley recently moved from the East coast to Alberta and had not done a photoshoot in a couple years. She was eager to get back into the modelling industry and I was excited to work with someone new. Right when we started shooting, I could already tell she had not lost any of her modelling skills. Changed her pose after each shot and had a very good variety of poses. I didn't have to direct her very much and that let me concentrate on the composition and technical aspects.
For this sunset shoot, we did a variety of "available light" and "off-camera flash" shots. The location is actually a research facility that is very nicely taken care of. Don't worry, I got permission from the property manage. But the location has ponds, water fountains, trees, bushes, trimmed grass, nice building, loading docks, etc. Many possibilities. It's my go to place.
Like a lot of models, she brought a variety of clothing, but this dress definitely stood out. I thought the fancy dress would suit the modern building. Had the "expensive night on the town" kind of feel to it!
This photo was taken with just available light approx 15 minutes before sunset. The glass helps to bounce some light back for a very slight rim light and the texture just looks great!! Had her rotate her head for short lighting and to adequately expose her face. Love playing with sunset lighting! Very little editing was done, a bit of dodging, saturation, contrast, etc. Overall, very pleased, but definitely couldn't have done it without Ashley's modeling skills!
