"After a long winter here in the Midwest, we finally got some beautiful weather. I had no plans to shoot today. However, knowing that we should take full advantage of the nice weather, my girlfriend forced me to go watch the sunset with her. Like every photographer probably would, I grabbed my camera to bring with. When we got there I knew right away I wanted to get a unique picture, there are always a million of the same sunset pictures of Lake Michigan.
I noticed right away that when the small waves were breaking, they would produce these cool little bubbles. I tried a few shots at f/11 to get the sky and sunset in focus, as well as the bubbles. I wasn't too happy with the results. I went ahead and opened up the aperture all of the way and BAM, just what I wanted. I got that close by holding my camera about 1/2" above the water and followed the break of the wave." -Thierry Lyles
