"Living in Michigan with the winter we have had this year you started to develop a small form of cabin fever, that and along with the fact I am not too fond of the winter or the cold (I stay for family). I was starting to go insane and needed to shoot SOMETHING! So I found some books and articles online to get inspired from and to get ideas to shoot things around the house. My wife and I started to going to our local Whole Foods store where I also was looking for some inspiration.
I had seen a picture of a kiwi and remembered another photo I seen from one of the books/articles I had read. With that being triggered I decided to pick up some kiwi (I also got cheese.. Not for a shoot… I just really enjoy cheese) and headed home. I set up a clear glass casserole dish in between two chairs, this held the kiwis dish in place (real pro stuff here… chairs…). The main question I have gotten so far is what are the kiwis sitting in. It is the cheapest and biggest tub of hair gel they had, or as I like to call it, Guido Goop. The hair gel provides a nice "bubble effect" at all times.
It's really interesting to look and shoot with. I also had put a layer of kiwis under the hair gel to give more depth. As for the lighting I placed one Yongnuo YN-560ii underneath the dish pointing straight up hitting the dish and another sitting on the left side of it pointing directly across it from left to right hitting my Fstoppers Flash Disc to reflect back more fill. I believe they both were on manual at 1/16th power." -Wes Jerdon
