"My name is Octavian, I am 26 and I am based in Madrid, Spain, although I am romanian but I have been living here for almost 12 years.
The original photo is a shot I did for a personal session with my girlfriend. We rented two boats and went on the lake “Lago” in Madrid and had some fun shooting with a Teddy bear. The concept of the shooting was the lost little girl. This was shot two or three years ago.
Lately I have been seeing the work of Brooke Shaden, Miss Aniela and others like them and I wanted to try out some compositing on my own. I looked up in my archives the photoshoot and found this photo that I hadn’t edited and I thought it was perfect for what I wanted. Then I started looking for backgrounds that would suit the mood that I wanted for the final photograph and I found on DeviantArt this one that is free for download: darkrose42-stock.deviantart.com/art/Stormy-sea-55513661
I would have liked to use my own background but since I don’t have any, this one was great. I had some notions about compositing from Phlearn.com and some other tutorial I had seen on internet some time ago but soon I found out that doing compositing is not as easy as it seems. I have put together a video where people can see how the photo has changed throughout the steps of the compositing. It took about two hours to get to the final image. The video can be found on my Vimeo account: https://vimeo.com/83459833
The final photograph represents the moment where we struggle with things that unsettle our inner atmosphere just like the sea starts to agitate right before the storm. "- Octavian Crăciun

Compositing is HARD. I have watched several Phlearn videos and while they are amazing an informative I think it takes a LOT of practice.
Nice work on this!!
