I've been a nurse for 18 years and work primarily with the elderly, which often entails dealing with loss and sadness. I stumbled on photography about 6 years ago and utilized this passion as a form of therapy. It helped me to balance all of the feelings of loss. I enrolled into a full time semester for photography and creative writing. I loved it, every minute of it. Unfortunately, after that one semester, the school announced it had gone bankrupt and that the doors would be closing forever. At the time, I was bereft and at a loss for what to do with myself. Fortunately, I am stubborn when it comes to things I am passionate about so I refused to give up. I have been training on my own utilizing online tutorials, books, magazines and lots and lots of practice/experimentation.
I have been in correspondence with several of my favorite artists (Brooke Shaden, Lyndsay Adler, Alex Stoddard, Joel Robison...). I find great inspiration in following their growth.
Last month, I was also blessed with a gift of free attendance to the Promoting Passion Convention created by Brooke Shaden. She has been such a kindred spirit. I could never have imagined receiving such an amazing gift and am more than excited for September! I am hoping to learn as much as possible and meet new friends in the art community.
My ultimate goal is to create book covers, CD art and eventually teach/ become a motivational speaker to uplift others and encourage them to chase their dreams as I am.
