I took up photography more than 10 years ago after realizing while in the US Air Force I'd missed the opportunity to record incredible events, such as the old field fires in Kuwait or famine relief in Somalia. After years of practice, and a lot of artistic risk-taking, I've learned a few tricks and feel better about sharing some of my favorite photos. It wasn't until I realized I needed a mission--to record the beauty of the planet God gave us--and to try to convey that awe, that I really felt my photos take on some character. I remain a dedicated amateur, however; I want this to remain my passion, rather than count every shutter as a potential commercial gain.
