Years ago, my photographic journey started with me casually taking snapshots of friends and places I would visit. I gradually started getting more serious by shooting landscapes, and, although I didn't create nearly as much as I would want, I really enjoyed hiking in the outdoors and creating images of the beautiful places I would go. In the midst of this, on a ski trip to Mt. Whistler, I rode off a cliff, backwards, on my snowboard and landed on a tree, shattering my L1 and L2 vertebrae. It rendered me partially paralyzed in both my legs and I now find it difficult to walk and get around. This pushed me into a period of stagnancy with my photography and I felt like I wouldn't use my camera again. It sat in the corner collecting dust until one day, it dawned on me that I could still create images but I would just have to change the way I look at photography. I've always admired portraiture and, since it doesn't require a lot of walking around or hiking to remote areas, I figured it would be a perfect match. I might even be able to start a small business, when I become proficient. I have just started on this new adventure and I am loving it. It brings me joy when someone comments and loves a portrait I make of them. I look forward to using this forum to get the feedback and knowledge it takes to meet my goals as a photographer.
