Mark Edwards on Fstoppers

I first became aware net rested in photography when I was about 8 years of age and was taught the basics by my Father. I studied photography at a local art college for four years and then spent a few years doing some advertising photography assisting other photographers. I then gave up photography for 25 years before coming back about to study digital photography. Since gaining my Associateship of The Royal Photographic Society (ARPS) with a series of documentary images of Roma people in Bulgaria I have been wanting to step up a level in the quality of my work. In the past I have taken a lot of gritty style documentary images but I would now like to challenge myself and create a panel of 20 images for my Fellowship. This time I would like to move to the other end of the spectrum and create a series of fantasy images using composite and photoshop manipulation.

I have a few ideas for my theme but am currently seeking inspiration. The first idea I have is to create a storyboard of 20 images depicting an adventure fantasy story told solely via images that revolve around finding an old magical book.

The second idea was to create a series of heroic style sports images. Depicting 20 sports portraits and of sports people and their sport in their sports environment.

The third idea was to create a series of painterly style romantic images from a bygone period maybe from the 1930's or 20's.
