John Ruggieri on Fstoppers

Based in Boston, John Ruggieri holds a B.A. in painting and philosophy from Hampshire College and also is an alumnus of Rhode Island School of Design, where he studied painting, fashion design, and photography. While an undergraduate at RISD, John studied darkroom photography, exploring soft focus and abstract landscapes. His photography currently is about finding and creating abstraction in the real world. His art—photography and painting—is exhibited widely, won multiple awards, and is in public and private collections from Paris to L.A. He received a $30,000 grant awarded by Fund for the Arts, a restricted fund of New England Foundation for the Arts, to create and produce the ART@NIGHT public art project and documentary.
