Sonny Monioz lives and breathes photos. His day consists of shooting before breakfast, editing before and after lunch, and planning out his next best shot when he’s not busy in front of a computer or looking into his viewfinder. Surfing is what initially drew Sonny to the water, and he quickly found passion in shooting. He began putting together skate videos early but was attracted to the beauty and creative drive of capturing a single image that encompasses a story and feel. Since then, Sonny has had experience doing it all from wedding photos, soccer games, to skate and surf photos, to even graphic design (which has, no doubt, helped with his editing). He has dedicated his life to his work with over 20 years of experience, and 15 terabytes worth of photos just from these past couple of years. His most recent obsession has been water photography – especially underwater photography at the beaches of Laguna. He describes the underwater as the “closest thing to flying as you can get.” But you can find a variety of style and aesthetic in whatever he shares. The ocean is his favorite setting, prop, and subject. He loves to explore the unknown, and loves to use nature to his advantage, as it is also a big inspiration.
