Bene Tan

His affair with photography was not love at first sight. Trained formally in Design, Bene had a brief brush with photography in art school. It was only ten-odd years later that he picked up the camera again. The hobby quickly took root and becoming a professional photographer was a natural transition. Work has led him to explore across the worlds of photography— from commercial, editorial, interior, event, portraiture, fashion, still life to food.

Most recently, Bene was awarded Honorable Mention in the International Photography Awards (IPA) Competition 2014 and 4 Honorable Mentions in the International Photography Awards (IPA) Competition 2013 for his photo entries in Food, Still Life, Portraits and Wedding Categories.

He also received a Merit Award in the Master Photography Competition 2013 for his "The Golden Ratio" series.

His personal work "Dance Singapore" came finalist in 31st Annual Spring Photography and published in the Best of Photography 2011 annual. In the same year, his product still appeared on the cover of LUX LAMPS & LIGHTS by German publisher, Gestalten. In April 2012, his food portraiture was featured and exhibited at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London hosted by Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year.

Through the last ten years, Bene nurtured his passion in food photography and begin sharing experiences with photography/food enthusiasts alike. In year 2008, he organised his first workshop and has been holding workshops periodically ever
