Cole Herning
Hi, I'm Cole. I'm originally from a tiny town of 500 just north of Green Bay, Wisconsin. My wife, Danielle and I moved to Portland in the fall of 2014 so that I could go to culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu and be immersed in one of the best food scenes in the country. Shortly after the move, I landed a job at Kachka, which has rapidly become a nationally known restaurant.
I've been on the line my entire adult life.
While I've always had an eye for photography, and you'd frequently find me with a camera in my hand, I had never pursued it as a career path. Cooking had always come first and photography was a side project with the bonus of getting great pictures of the food I made.
As I've gotten older, my passion for cooking has not waned. My desire to do more with my photography has grown. I feel that photography has also pushed me to become a better cook: you eat with your eyes first.
So here we are on my website. A place where I can showcase my work and offer my services to the world. Whether you need catering, a personal chef, or photography work, I'm your man.
