Ian Knaggs

Hello! I’m Ian & I’m a product, advertising & still life photographer based in the middle of the UK.

With a technical background and qualifications in Aeronautical engineering, I’m a self-confessed techie geek, but I’m not obsessed with the latest kit. I love the physics of light and use this knowledge and relatively basic equipment to create lighting setups to make everyday objects look spectacular. Lighting is everything to me and I firmly believe that it is the single most important thing in the world of photography. Without light, there’s be no photography as we know it (well, apart from IR photography perhaps)!

I take great pride in my work, use tailored and refined lighting techniques for all of my work with no exceptions. This approach extends into my includes packshots and e-commerce images as, in my mind, all products deserve to be beautifully and carefully lit.

The desire to constantly improve pushes me on towards my next image and I am qualified as Craftsman of the Guild of Photographers.

I will never create the perfect image, but will spend the rest of my life trying to.
