I love the process of hunting for a composition in nature. Turning a chaotic scene into an interesting and/or compelling story. I am a student of photography and spend equal time reading about technique and putting that knowledge to action while hiking. It’s a cliche but the notion of a picture tells a thousand words has merit in regards to a good image. You must convey a story without uttering a single word. This is the challenge that I strive for when composing an image. The scene is the introduction, the lighting is the antagonist, the elements are the characters and the time of day is the protagonist. They can all combine to illustrate and illuminate your story but let one dominate too much and your storyline is muddled.
