Michael Smiy is an Associate Creative Director for the TV & Streaming division of mOcean, the 2015 PromaxBDA Agency of the Year. He has been a creative collaborator on over 36 campaign during his time at the company,

Smiy has directed concept spots for HBO Now (Promax 2015 Gold Winner), TNT’s Animal Kingdom (which he also wrote) and Tales from the Crypt, CNN’S docu-series Soundtracks, Travel Channel’s Rev Runs Around the World and TLC’s Fridays style series lineup, as well as additional content for Netflix’s Jessica Jones character vignettes, HBO’s Bill Maher launch spot, TLC’s Too Close to Home, Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives and A&E’s Frankenstein Chronicles up-front trailer. He has also photographed key art for the Cinemark XD “movie-ologist” rebrand, USA’s Falling Water, Morgan Spurlock’s RATS on Discovery and CNN’s Soundtracks.

Smiy has worked with talent such as Carrie-Anne Moss, Rachael Taylor, Mike Colter, Guy Fieri, Run-D.M.C., Sonja Sohn, Jim True-Frost, Stacy London and Clinton Kelly.

Smiy is a graduate of the Peter Stark Producing MFA Program at USC and frequently collaborates with talented alumni from the program, including writing and directing two short films, Mechanical Expression and Variance, and producing the 2017 feature film, Muse.
