I moved from California to Ecuador when I retired last year from a career as a software developer. My wife gave me a Canon 5D for my birthday in 2008 and said I needed a hobby, which soon became more interesting to me than developing yet more software.

After visiting 54 countries as a tourist over the past 40+ years, we decided to move to South America and explore another culture more completely. Loving it so far, though it is hard to get specialized photo gear down here.
