Gene Smith
Photography has been putting gas in my car and food on the table since 1976.
My career started in Architectural and Illustrative photography.
I built a business in the Philly market in film shooting large format for major corporations, mostly package design photo-illustrations. Mattel, Hasbro, Matchbox, International Paper, Dupont, Xerox... I work with some fantastic creative people.
Shooting 8X10 transparencies and processing them in a Wing Lynch processor is a little different than what we do today...
Learning a craft really reinforces the vision. In ANY avocation.
Today I use Canon cameras and I also have the Zeiss/Hartblei endorsement in Germany.
I'm the only American photographer with that endorsement.
The Zeiss and Canon Tilt/Shift lenses give me the ability to mimic the View Camera adjustments I used to use. Live View replaces the countless Polaroids necessary to get what we needed.
Now I also have a lot of calls for people photography.
I thought I loved only still-life and its introspection...
Making people look their best is a lot of fun too!
