A year ago while planning a trip to South America I decided at the last minute to bring something more than my phone to photograph and document the trip. A friend had a Fuji X100 and the quality of his photos were inspiring, an order was placed on Amazon and it arrived 8 hours before boarding the plane. This seemingly innocuous series of events has led me down this horribly steep path.

I truly loved shooting with a real camera again but my photos weren't great, or even good. I spent the next 9 months traveling, shooting and trying to improve. Armed with little more than the camera itself, no tripod, no filters and the free copy of Apple photos on my laptop for editing.

Now, back home in the US, I am looking for ways to learn more, fill out my basic kit and improve. Lightroom & photoshop were added this week...earlier, a cheap tripod and set of filters. All the basic elements seem to be in place, now comes the learning....which brings me here.
