About Tamara

I am a Mexican conservation photographer and storyteller. Through my work in photography and journalism I seek to raise awareness about environmental issues through a decolonial and ethical lens, as well as to support Indigenous and local nature conservation efforts and the nature, land, and water defense movements in Mexico and other countries.

I firmly believe that without understanding nature, wildlife and those who protect them, we cannot achieve effective and long lasting results in conservation, and photography and storytelling are some of the best tools to achieve this goal, making scientific information understandable for everyone while inspiring the love of nature in others as well as the taking of action to protect our beautiful planet.

I am very skilled at crafting engaging and factual stories. So much so that my work has been published by Mexican and international media such as National Geographic en Español, Mongabay, Nautilus Magazine, Photographers Without Borders, La Revista Este País, El Suplemento Ojarasca de la Jornada, among others. I have also been featured in books such as The New Big Five and Riqueza Natural de México while also working alongside NGOs in Mexico and Latinamerica such as Cuenca Los Ojos, Raise the River and Pronatura México just to name a few.
