About John

I've been taking pictures as long as I can remember. My first camera used 127 film and I took shots of Madrid in 1965. In the 1980s I started developing and printing my own film and went on to open my own studio specializing in portraiture, weddings and model portfolios. Weddings almost killed my love for photography and I closed my studio and went to work as the General Manager of a three store camera chain. I started shooting what I love, landscapes, a little sports, and cityscapes. I'm just getting back into photography, relearning what I have forgotten, rebuilding my portfolio, and getting back into trying to push myself further. I do very little post-processing, I strive to get as much in camera as I can. It's just what I enjoy. In the old days I used to push myself, for example shooting an entire Air Show with a wide angle lens, I try to do the same now.

I have a flickr page, I know that I should be a lot more selective about what I put there but I pretty much put everything from snap shpts on up on my page. My primary interest is to be a writer, I'm not looking to make money off my photography (which is probably a good thing). I have been down that road and didn't enjoy it. Now I shoot for me.
