The California Institute for Integral Studies (CIIS) launched a new gallery space with Truong Tran’s solo exhibition, Framed Targets, which was on display from March 6 until April 11, 2015. The work explores the plight of artists and other displaced communities in San Francisco as the city’s demographic changes with the rise of the technology industry and cost of living.
Slow Clap was there to document the body of work's progress, up until a few weeks before the opening. We documented Tran's artistic evolution and interviewed him after the completion of a year's worth of thinking, building, and creating. The result is a mini-doc that features a message that's just starting to be heard by community influencers, journalists, and artists alike. It is, in coordination with Tran's exhibition, the start of a new dialogue about how artists are seen in San Francisco.
