Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k Pro LCD Screen White Balance Hack

In this article you will discover how to set the white balance on your Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro’s LCD screen. This will also work on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K models as well.

With the release of Blackmagic Design's software 7.3 update for the pocket cinema camera range, you now have the ability to adjust the temperature and tint of your LCD screen to achieve a more accurate-looking color balance. Although you will not be able get your LCD screen’s white balance one hundred percent perfect, you can get pretty close.

In order to measure the white patch on the LCD screen’s adjustment menu, you will need an X-Rite i1Display Pro and compatible color calibration software. For this example, I am using Color Space from Light Illusion.

Because you are not able to store different white balance adjustment settings, I suggest you set your Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro’s LCD screen brightness to fifty percent and measure the white patch on the back of your LCD screen. Refer to the video above for an example.

By adjusting your tint and temperature sliders and keeping a close eye on your calibration software you will be able to get a pretty accurate white balance. Although no camera LCD screen will be perfectly color balanced. The white balance adjustment screen in software version 7.3 will get you pretty close.

The Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera range is the only consumer camera range, that allows you to adjust your LCD screen's temperature and tint. You can learn more about the various features of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro right here…
