International Wedding Photographer of the Year Announces Their 2017 Award Winners

International Wedding Photographer of the Year Announces Their 2017 Award Winners

Are you looking for inspiration for your wedding photography? Here are the winning photos from this year’s International Wedding Photography of the Year image competition.

The International Wedding Photographer of the Year competition, or IWPOTY, was created this year to promote and celebrate the art of wedding photography from all around the world. The grand prize winner this year was Erika Mann of Two Mann Studios for her solo bridal portrait featuring a stunning double rainbow in the background. Mann had this to say about her image:

Paige and Daniel had a super low key wedding, with the reception taking place in their parent’s backyard, with about 25 guests. Thankfully their parents have one of the most beautiful backyards in the planet, along the banks of Cougar Creek in Canmore, Alberta. After a short, and unpredictable storm, we were treated to the most amazing double rainbow. Lanny and I got low into the creek bed so we could remove the houses, and simplify the frame to the rainbow, mountain, and Paige, with her dress billowing in the wind.

Mann’s grand prize winnings include $3000 cash, a Nikon D850, an Elinchrom ELB 400, as well as several other items from companies like Queensberry, Think Tank, MOO, Smart Albums, Datacolor, and Hold Fast. IWPOTY handed out over $25,000 in prizes to all category winners.

One of the unique rules for this competition was that the photographer had to take the image during an actual wedding day. They could then enter their photo into one of the nine categories: solo portrait, single capture, couple portrait, bridal party, black and white, dance floor, epic location, from above, and album. Below are the beautiful images from the winner of each category.

I hope the "Bridal Party Winner" was picked as best bridal party creepy horror photo. Holy smokes! Dudes heads are upside down, faded out. Super creepy, but cool :)

The winning image doesn't scream wedding to me, that could be any woman in a white dress? Also that winning couple shot really portrays the love and connection newly weds should have...

The couple portrait winner looks like they're dead...

I agree. How romantic? I dunno maybe I'm just not a wedding kind of guy because most of these do nothing for me. Actually, let me restate that. I don't like weddings 😅
