Behind the Scenes of a Beautiful Landscape Shoot in Iceland

Watch as one photographer returns to Stokksnes in Iceland to try to better a shot he had taken of the same place some years prior. Iceland truly is one of the most beautiful countries on the planet and this quiet, relaxing video does a great job of showing some of its allure.

Of the countries and places I have visited, Iceland certainly ranks right at the top. Despite not being a landscape photographer, I couldn't help but be inspired by the entire island. The sheer density of beauty in Iceland is was makes it so incredible. You could more or less drive around the entire circumference of the island in one day, and yet ever turn you make, every road you drive, there is something staggering to photograph.

While I loved my trip and my girlfriend and I covered an enormous number of miles whilst there, I feel similar pangs of disappointment that Todd Dominey discusses in this video; a sense that you could have done better and would do better if you had another run at it. Perhaps that's the sentiment we photographers always experience when we look back on shoots, who knows. If I were to pinpoint my failures it wouldn't the same as Dominey's though. It wasn't necessarily that my compositions were sloppy — though, with landscapes, my bar is lower — but rather that I didn't shoot enough. I took a lot of shots, but my camera ought to have been glued to my hand for a week.

Make yourself a drink, sit back, and relax while you watch a soothing behind-the-scenes video of the pursuit of betterment.
