The 2014–2015 Nikon Photo Contest is quickly coming to a close, with only a few days left to enter. This annual contest, which has been held since 1969, welcomes a wide variety of submissions shot with any brand of camera. Entry categories range from single photo entries following this year’s theme of “Home,” to photo stories following a theme of your choosing, to video works that are 6 to 180 seconds in length. Ten free photo entries are allowed, so why not submit a few of your favorite images and see what happens?
There are some excellent prizes awarded to first, second, and third place winners in each of the entry categories, plus an overall grand prize winner. Varying amounts of money towards Nikon products are bestowed upon the winners, and a couple awards even have straight cash prizes. The submission deadline is Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. Japan standard time. If you live in the United States, that means it’s coming up as soon as 8 p.m. on the 14th for west coast folks.
To enter and to see all the information about entry categories, submission rules, and awards, visit the Nikon Photo Contest website. You can also check out the winning images from last year’s contest, and a whole archive of winners from previous years. Echoing what Moose Peterson wrote on his blog about the contest, "I bet you’re a much better photographer than you think and this is a great way to prove it to yourself!"
*Sigh* they're still not cool with film submissions. :(
Haven't you heard? Film is dead!
I think they just stopped accepting film scans in the past couple years. No idea why, seems ridiculous.
"Today, photography is undergoing a sea change." What?
You made me think I wrote that somewhere above and was really confused when I couldn't find it. I see what you're referring to now on the Nikon contest website.
