1939 Nimbus Model C. Before shooting this bike, I knew nothing about it or the old mill I would be shooting it at. When I arrived, the driver who delivered the bike told me that he found a great room inside the mill that we could get the bike into. It was either that or shoot the bike in a car collector's garage that was also part of the mill. When we walked into the room he'd found, I was immediately sold. It felt right staging the bike in a building from the same era, and the yellows, browns, and the worn wood textures in the room complimented the bike's red paint nicely. Shortly after we staged the bike for the first shot, the driver told me that the bike once belonged to Steve McQueen. Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better, it did. I have plenty of other images from this set, but I like this one because it most closely conveys the image I had in my head when I first walked into the room.
5D Mk4 w/ 24-105mm, 5 exposures, all lit with a diffused XPLOR 600
Its a solid photo. The bike is well lit, and crisp. My issue is that too much of the building is also lit up too much. For instance, the right wall distracts from the over all feeling. If it was darker, it would keep the eye more on the bike.
