A very solid and powerful shot for me. Good composition, well chosen background and great pan.
I could only guess, but maybe others didn't like the lower parts that are further back, like the wheels being out of focus. I see how you went after the driver's face though.
What was you aperture like, could you have closed it some more perhaps?
