The design of the skin is based on the death mask taken of a young woman who drowned in the River Seine in France late in the 19th Century. Anne or Annie, as the manakin is called, gave inspiration to the song "Smooth Crimonal" by Michael Jackson. The phrase "Annie are you OK?" refers to CPR-training.
