I don't know if this qualifies as street photography but this is the closest thing I have. Walking around downtown Chicago I had pretty good timing to see the bridges go up and the boats pass through on the river walk.

Nice shot. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure your hunch is correct that it wouldn't qualify as street photography. It seems like usually street photos have a human and emotional element. Take this as an opportunity to explore, go out and take some and come back and post them!
Unfortunately I do not live in a city. Or in a place where "street" photography is convenient to do. This was taken when I was in Chicago on a business trip.
