Yucca plant on the Carrizozo lava flow in New Mexico.
The blue sky seemed to distract and clash with a scene that had minimal color to it except for this green yucca, hence the black and white. The large crevice makes a nice leading line through the image to the mountains in the distance. Color selection done in camera.

No local edits.
In my defense, color selection here was necessary to draw the eye to an initial point in the frame. Also it's not localized. Notice the plant 2/3 up the image on far right. All green was selected and pulled out of the image. The saturation wasn't changed. No cloning, painting, or liquefying. I don't own PS or LR yet
