I'd remove the cars, railing, and signs from the road. They distract from the rest of the image and I think the image is better without them.

I understand what you mean, and you're certainly right - the shot would benefit from edits like that - but it would go against my ethos as a photographer - never add something that isn't there; and never remove something that is in the shot.
Not that I'm against people who do it; it's just that I see photography as a study of light and its interaction with the world.
