Sometimes they just want to throw snowballs

I was shooting in completely flat light here. Overcast and snow everywhere so there was very little shadow. I exposed for the snowy background. In post I tweaked the tone to bring back some shadow. Shooting in jpeg was a misfire. RAW may have shown more of the snow spray below her braid on the right. You can see it in a more high res image, but just barely. I’m new to digital and brand new to Lr. This is my 1st series trying to have continuity with my editing. Previously, I was a film photographer from camera, to darkroom, to print so I can definitely use any advice you may have.
