I was amazed how much reflection was produced by a flashlight and sparklers.
I don't usually enjoy lightpainting, but the shapes you created is just so cool. I like this so much that I want to try your technique with the sparkler, very creative.
Not everyone likes to crop tight, but I see about 1/4 of the image is featureless sky. A square format centered horizontally on your model might look good.
Lightpainting isn't my thing either, however, panting with tubes & sparklers is pretty cool. Also, my wife loves it because she gets to wear a dress or skirt. It's something we love doing together.
I hear what you're saying about cropping. In this picture I was trying to utilize the rule of thirds.
Beautiful lightpainting picture, Hank.The light looks great and the contrast with the sea and sky match perfectly well. The shine of the rocks and shore on the right makes a well and balanced image.

Quite nice. I'm guessing the idea was inspired by Eric Pare. I'll just say that his twilight shots typically have slightly more variation in the sky. They're not dramatic skies by any means but maybe just shooting a little earlier to get something less flat back there would be helpful.
You are TOTALLY correct, Vince. I think the sky needs a star trail or sunset which could easily be added. I guess I was trying to be a purist and keep the photo as is.
