Senior Portrait on a a semi sunny afternoon with the sun peeking through the clouds at the right time.
Couple things why I chose this image:
The picture lets people know what he is into—it tells a story.
Love the lighting, soft diffused on his face.
The limited palette of the overall image.
The leading lines into our model.
The model's expression.
Not over the top—it's natural.
Well done!
Hi Samantha,
Thanks for commenting. Can you let me know why it looks awkward the way he is holding the guitar?
I personally like the way he is posed :)
I think I see what Samatha is saying... hmm, maybe turning the guitar clock-wise a quarter of a turn, keeping the face of it in view (beautiful guitar)... so facing more toward the left side of the frame... more perpendicular to the subject rather than the face of the guitar being parallel with the body of the person. It would be the same angle relative to the subject as it is now but facing left instead of right. The hand in the pocket is too deep- typically you will see in fashion and modeling the thumb will be on the outside of the pants, fingers together, and the row of knuckles closest to the wrist would be visible. I would crop the photo at the top of the stairs, at the base of the short columns so that we can not see the fence. I think that brings much more focus to this fine looking young man. It would be even better if the stair sides didn't bracket his head. I like his expression- very fitting of a serious young musician. These are all very picky points but it's obvious you are a better than average photographer and the picky details is what takes you to the next level. Fine work!
