I'm trying to relate what the background might have to do with the subject. It just looks like an empty picnic area in mid-winter. If there is no relationship, then all of the background is too busy and distracting. If it is related to him, how can that be better shown? I held my hands up to this photo blocking out as much of the background and the lighted roofs as I could and it brings much more focus on the subject. Careful of posts coming out of heads in any photo.
