Oak Bluffs, Marthas Vineyard, MA. Shot using a B+W 10 stop ND filter, 77 second exposure. Did a lot of dodging and burning on this. Putting the horizon exactly in the center was a deliberate composition choice. Please say what you like or dislike about it.

Congratulations to the winners!
I'm finding this difficult to rate and comment on. I feel it would fit better in a contest for minimalism and abstract photography although I understand its relation to travel- sand, ocean, and sky. I don't think "needs work" (2 stars) really fits because it is a solid photo and doesn't need more work (a fault of the rating system in my opinion). I can see that it would appeal to a very narrow purchasing group. Maybe I'm having trouble because it looks more like a painting than a photograph. It just doesn't say "travel photography". A photo has to stand on its own and strike a cord. This type of photo has limited appeal to most people I believe. But then, that's what they said about Mark Rothko.
I have posted this on other photo sites and you are the third person to compare it to Rothko. Thanks! That is high praise. If people don't the photo I posted for the contest they are really going to hate this one! https://www.flickr.com/photos/10025089@N05/49506395183/in/dateposted-public/
Wonderful, check out my gallery and my instagram profile. Here's a wonderful rating for your photo.
Thanks!
Dope! Sweet to see something different. Totally a fresh abstract, Minimalist take in a contest that's full of the same rather boring snap shots.
What I don't like is you took the mystery away by telling me how you did it. 77 sec, exposure, ND filter, dodge/burn.
Its too good and abstract to have some technical numbers based explanation. Perhaps something more ethereal and emotive.

Oh what joy for every girl and boy

Thank you! I thought that some might enjoy my different take on travel photography but was wrong. Oh well. I am trying to go my own way and develop my own style and try not to care what others think. Now perhaps if had I posted a photo of a long exposure of a waterfall or Antelope Canyon people would approve. Thanks again for the nice comments!
