I wanted to create a silhouette that contained expression, using the principle of the decisive moment taught by Cartier-Bresson..But I wanted more depth, so I lit the hat only, which took a long time to get just right. No photoshop involved in this image except to create contrast And create a gradient in the backdrop to contrast the silhouette and then the highlight of the hat. I then realised that I had sub-consciously created a shot by Albert Watson. I think its interesting how we are influenced and don't aways realise it. Science stands on the shoulders of giants and so does art.
