Glass Sphere Macro with Air Bubble.

Double polarized light scene; light source is computer monitor (polarized light) and CPL Filter on lens set to block out all light from monitor (monitor appears black).

Clear plastic bag was placed between subject and light source causing the light to refract into a spectrum of colors. Single Shot.

Nikon z6 w/ 24-70 f/4 Lens | iso 100, 57mm (+ extension tubes), f/11, 1.5s

Liking this one. This seems to be a very specific, unique technique. How did and what motivated you to come up with this?

Thank you Bruce.

This originally started out as a colorful way to back-light this glass sphere with a solar system laser etched into it - The image didn't turn out very interesting but cropping-in the subject became these wonderful colors.

The technique happened mostly by accident messing around with my camera at my desk playing with the CPL filter; I happened to have a plastic water bottle in view and noticed the colors created. A little searching later found it was an actual technique mainly used to cut highlights while shooting macro subjects. The creation of colors looking thru different plastics is more a side effect but still extremely interesting.

Thanks for the breakdown. This is a wonderful abstract.

Thank you for the kind words. :)
