Shot at a country venue in Cyprus with a huge outdoor area, at night. I love to get in the action. I set up a three way lighting setup of the whole area in advance.

Shot in real time, no staging, just a case of making sure I was in the right place at the right time. I seek real emotions, expressions from live action.

I often shoot wide and straight into a flash for these sorts of shots. Scottish dancing is always fast moving and there was a lot of dodging the dancers to get this shot. I wanted to get the crowd too.

The main challenge was with the lighting... Even if the whole shot was staged the lighting is tricky.. much harder to get a great result for a fast fluid evening.
