1.56 - "Needs Work"

This is from the second wedding I ever photographed. The ceremony was in Shakespeare Garden in Central Park. Afterwards I wandered around Central Park with the bride and groom taking pictures as the sun began to set. I didn't really know what I was doing at the time, so I had WAY too much equipment—multiple light stands and reflectors, pretty much none of which got used. This shot, one of my favorites of the day was just my Nikon D80 and kit 18-135 lens. I sent them up to the bridge with instructions to "get romantic" while I fired off a bunch of shots. To my mind it just goes to show that having a good location, good light, and good subjects trumps fancy technique pretty much every time. I knew just enough to set a good exposure, and I think that was pretty much all I needed. Nowadays I'm much more experienced and more likely to get consistently good pictures throughout the ceremony and reception, but I'm hard pressed to find a wedding image in my portfolio that I like more than this one.
