Dandelion Cub
I came across this sow Black Bear with twin cubs. As I stalked to within camera range, one of the cubs scurried up the large Ponderosa Pine tree. Mom and the other cub hung around for a minute to check me out before they followed the first youngster up the tree.
Black Bears can come in a wide range of colors. In Washington state where I live, the most common colors are black, chocolate brown, and cinnamon. This Black female probably bred with a brown or cinnamon colored male, hence both of her twins being brown.
By the way, I didn't know that the cub had a dandelion in its mouth until I got home and downloaded the pics onto my big screen ..... a pleasant surprise indeed!
Tom, where in Washington were you when you got this sho!
Hey, Don!
I was near Moses Meadow, in Okanogan County.
