2.42 - "Needs Work"

Camera: Sony A7RIII
Lens: Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 @ 58mm
Flash: Neewer Vision 4, 300W
Settings: ISO 50, f/2.8, 1/160sec
Post-Processing: Lightroom Classic & Photoshop

The goal of this image was to capture the subject, a harpist, against a black background with black clothing to have them seamlessly fade into their surrounding space, placing the focus on her hands and facial expression while performing.

The set up included a black backdrop, a single strobe (Neewer Vision 4, 300W) on the right, and a white reflector on the left to softly fade the light from one side to the other. The camera was handheld to retain flexibility while capturing in order to move with the movements of her hands on the instrument.

Post-processing on the image was completed mainly in Lightroom Classic with some final re-touching in Photoshop. The decision to convert the image into black and white was made to further emphasize the seamless blend into the harpists surrounding and draw more focus to her hands and facial expression.
